It was so beautiful and suprising this morning over Brockway summit. 2" of heavy thick snow blanketing the trees and forest. It is very early for snow, so the deciduous trees, carrying this new load of snow on their leaves, are all bent over and smashed down. The Northstar golf course looked beautiful between white and green.

What a pleasant morning. Though, all I can really say is, the mtb will be ridiculously good this weekend.

Ten days ahead of last year. And you know those formulas--save $10 a month when you turn 20 and you have 100k by 60. Start a month earlier, and you have a million.(or something like that Wink)

L-Dawg got slatered with a coat of white goodness last night. And with the cleanse the air in the northern Sacto valley has improved to only marginally disgusting.

Be particularly sweet to settle the dust a little for HSBgrass. The mass migration from Jeff Tweedy to John Prine to Bill Kirchen to Bela Fleck to Jorma to E Lou to.....could be hard on the lungs. After that I'll devote all my time to polishing edges while I watch the sky.

Same time, same place, same crew?... Saturday looks like an awesome lineup!

http://www.strictlybluegrass.com/ is this the HSB to which you refer? Think a few turtles could be added to your crew????

Snow, blue grass, delightfully tacky mtn biking trails this week is getting better and better. Totally OT but anybody wanna ride the south yuba trail (nevada city) tomorrow afternoon w/ me? Maybe somebody w/ a new winter vacation house and mostly healed shoulder?

Yes, and great!

Sek, are you meaning the Arrow Stage with the Lounge Lizards, Jimmy LaFavre, James McMurtry, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, T-Bone Burnett, and, and, Michelle Shocked?

Looks awfully good. Could wander for a glimpse of Bela. Will warn you, though, (now that I've leaked my age) I could die if the A Lounge Lizards play, "I'm 40yrs Old and Living In My Mom's Garage."

I drooling but am trying to keep a low profile. Don't wanna piss off the mountain or weather gods.

Jim & Charley - we gotta hook up for HSB! Which days are you going? All?

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY
AFTERNOON.

WIDESPREAD RAIN AND SNOW WILL SPREAD OVER MONO COUNTY FRIDAY
EVENING. SNOW LEVELS ABOVE 9000 FEET EARLY FRIDAY EVENING ARE
EXPECTED TO FALL TO 7000 TO 7500 FEET BY SATURDAY MORNING.
SNOWFALL TOTALS OF 6 TO 10 INCHES ABOVE 7500 FEET ARE
POSSIBLE...WITH OVER A FOOT POSSIBLE AT THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS.

This means 120 will probably be closed on Saturday morning, yes? Anybody familiar with the NPS's closure procedures this early in the season when they know it'll melt off by next week? I called their hotline and the GP Road is closed due to snow and ice, but 120 is open. I don't wanna get up there only to find the road closed on me.

In other news, there's a Winter Storm Watch up in mid-September! Very Happy

Wow, a winter storm watch already!

I'm still guessing the ground is too warm for any real accumulation to last long, especially on the roads. 10" - Holy Crikey!
