Thinking of getting a pair of Scarpa F3 AT boots but then I thought, why not get a pair of TerminatorX's and I could use them for both AT (Dynafit)and Telemark (NTN). The question is: what is the difference between the two other than the NTN sole thingy? They sure look damm near the same on Scarpa's web site photos. Stiffness? Bellows flex? The X is listed as 10 oz heavier.

It looks to me as if the F3 is sorta like a T2X, but with Dynafit compatability and no duckbill. Lower appears (from photos) the same as the F1, and cuff the same moulding as the T2X. It also has an Intuition liner which the T2X lacks. However, the F3 has no "second heel" to attach an NTN binding to, but it seems as if Bomber Bishops and maybe VP-11s might work - no tour mode though.
The Terminator X *was* designed to work for tele, has the NTN attachment, has cuff canting and will still work for Dynafit. It appears that the cuff is also considerably taller than the F3 - more like a T1; I think Mitch covered this in his NTN wrap-up. It also has the reinforcement around the rear of the lower shell as per the tele boots.
I'd say for AT it goes F1 > F3 > TX in order of increasing height and stiffness. Cannot really compare for tele as different binding compatibility means more variables to consider.
I guess this a really long-winded way of saying "I dunno..." _________________ Nashti zhas vorta po drom o bango
I have the F1 and F3.
I have take a look at the terminator x.
The F3 is much lighter than the terminator x at just about 6 lbs 6 oz in size 26.5. It is basically a beefier version of the F1 with 3 buckles, but only about 6 oz heavier. The terminator x is significantly heavier and beefier.
Performance wise in AT I do not know, but I am impressed with the F3's so far but I do not have any time on the snow with them yet.
