So how'd those Fuzions hold up for the descent? Laughing

Great one!

Man, fabulous job of threading the needle between weather events and hitting that fast moving snowpack just right!! You the squatch.

Didn't you put up another Bigfoot adventure couple of years ago? You may be an undisputed leader.

nice to see people are still pushing the envelope out there and not just repeating the trade routes - you didn't happen to see the tripod supposedly left by the '63 Congolese expedition, did you?

Actually, you laugh, but the merrells are my "go to" boot for bigfoot'n. Mountaineering boots have release issues (learned the hard way) and ski boots are overkill.

No, and thus their ascent of the Forbidden Spur is still unverified. I did, however, pass right by the lifeless body of a british mountaineer but was too focused on my objective to lend a hand.

So the adventure did continue. The kids were still napping when I got home, and our plan was to drive up to Graeagle for a week of vacation, so I jumped on the bike and headed north from Squallywood. I left instructions with the wife not to mow me down on US 89 but rather to pick me up when she caught me. Had a beautiful ride up north to Truckee and beyond. She caught me as I was chugging into Sattley and man was I tired.

A couple of days later I did a fantastic ride on the Gold Lake/Yuba Pass loop. It's about 45 miles with a fair amount of climbing, but really an awesome route with great roads and few cars (at least on a wednesday).

Steep ass climb (ca. 7 miles) up to Gold Lake Summit

Entering the Sierra County side of the pass, home of California's best asphalt. I hauled some serious ass down this thing Shocked

Sierra Buttes are still holding a lot of snow. The main gulley goes almost to Sardine Lake. I really should've brought the Bigfeet on this trip!

At the bottom of the Gold Lake Highway, I hung a left onto Highway 49 and followed the Yuba river up to the pass. Here are the buttes seen from along the Yuba.

A decent climb brings you to Yuba Pass. A huge downhill from here to Calpine. (note the jersey choice to support my countrymen kicking ass in the Fussball-Weltmeisterschaft)

And then some spinning with one moderate pass climb back to Graeagle, then another big hump back up to the lodge. Arrival was sweet, as my kids were hanging out and playing on the river. Hard to believe Lauren (at left) had her birth announcement broadcast on TTips nearly four years ago!

Good thing your safety straps were in full functioning order when you hucked the cliff band.

Not nearly as sexy as you Dave

Matt Czarniecke would kick your ass for wearing those shorts anywhere except on Market Street yesterday.

Steeleman, I have Fuzions too, and would use them if they weren't a size too big. I was laughing in surprise at the photo you took of yourself wearing the Fuzions and Bigfoots. It's not something you see everyday. Smile
