Over on the wasatch obs page, I found a recent post describing a tour done on Saturday.

So MC, gumby and I were auditioning for a TV reality show starring wow, somewhat analogous to Ted Nugent's Ted or Alive whereby a bunch of folks go touring with the Wizard and the slowest whining-ist party members get voted off the tour one by one.

You can read the post here

Why is tri-u smiling?

MC and gumby were interested in skiing on Saturday. It'd been getting warmer for several days and I hadn't skied since Thursday, a beautiful day in the mountains.
The weather forecast indicated a warm day was in store. The planning included bringing a pair of hiking shoes, just in case the refreeze was enough to stay out for a longer tour. Tri-u called MC and joined up.
We found a supportable base at the traihead, so we packed the sneakers.
On the ridge,

we learn g has foot problems, probably from the damned at setup, she's using to save weight?, but vitamen I is administered and she continues up the Pfeifferhorn. We ski the sw face,

corn rippened to buttah.
G does a shorter line, we meet back up after she naps, feeling better. We're headed for Bells.
The day heats up, skins get wet and heavy, with trail breaking a chore. MC doesn't care, he's in training for a hundred mile foot race, near the end of summer. I don't care either, likely a good contestent for the motor city madman's reality tv show.

There's a few ups and downs prior to reaching the top of Bells and Thunder bowl,

traversing along the top of Lightning ridge. The last section involves a little scrambling, cuz the snow has already melted out.

Quote:
Yeah, go get that fancy new trad gear

The trad gear works well enough to achieve the top of Thunder,

the valley spread out below.
A ski cut offa the top produces a shallow wet slide, requiring a traverse onto lower angled slopes. Rollers and mank follow as we decend towards snowline.

Sticking wirh the north facing and using recent wet slide activity as islands of safety, we only start a coupla small slides to flatter ground.

The snow ends at the upper bench where we meet two hikers, somewhat surprized to see us. They've left a trail through the snow patches, allowing us to put the tennies on for the hike down and out.

Neglecting to place a car at the trailhead, it's another mile or so back to the park and ride lot. I went ahead and got my truck, picking up the others along the road, leaving them at the lower lot. Keys forgotten, hitchhiking back up canyon to retrieve the other cars, done after I ditched um, late for an appointment with perspective tv show producers, hell bent on making a pilot for yet another reality show.
Rolling Eyes
I think they missed a good episode.

telemark, my experience with "the nuge" dates to the late sixties or early seventies when I saw the band, Amboy Dukes. The memory is somewhat dim, at least partially caused by the ingestion of a pychoactive substance, combined with everclear and coke.

The next experience, several years later, involved standing on a folding chair two rows back from the stage, with the music so loud, sound vibrations were blowing my hair as if in a wind. I lasted for only a couple of songs, perhaps suffering permanent hearing loss along with further dementia...

The most recent and probably last time was the combined Nuge and ZZTop affair.
Enough is enough. I'd rather ski.

Thanks wow. The smiling photo of Tri-U and the one of MC make me want to ski. I think I'll make some plans right now. Thanks again.

Hey, I really enjoy the fact that you the C-word on others TR... especially since you produce so many TR's and generally create such a nice vibe. No crawl back to the OT, unless you have something to actually contribute.

Very nice stuff, wow!

Happy to see some TRs trickling out of the long, location-specific threads.

Dweeb? Well duh. That I'm a dweeb goes without saying -- I mean, what could be dweebier than posting on an internet forum dedicated to telemark skiing?

Umm... lemme see... that would be acting like a tough guy anonymously posting insults on an internet forum dedicated to telemark skiing.

As for pics of FHW skiing out there, s'yeah riiiight. He's gotta remain anonymous so the mystery boogey man with the Bowie knife he's so a-skeered of don't come after him. Laughing

Dungeons and Dragons? Well, when you get to go go skiing with a Wizard, I guess that counts.

Thanks for posting the TR wow, I need to figure out how to got my pics to look as good as the ones you take - I noticed the color balance on your shot of MC is much better than the one I must've taken at almost the exact same moment.

How'd the interview with the TV guys go?
(edited to add tripreport search term to thread)
