Great weekend. Sara said it felt like a breakthrough.

Skied Deer Valley Saturday with a ski patrol buddy. Brought doughnuts & a thank you card for the tickets.

We did a bunch of long steep groomer non-stops to warm up, then some quality time in the moguls,
then a hop turn & leaper lesson + practice time. Then Sara's first time skiing the Daly Chutes.

We hit the skier's far R chute. Ron says if you don't want to huck the cornice you better go that way:

It's a steep & intimidating avalanche path full of moguls, but Sara did good:

In the lobby of the Stein Erickson Lodge is Stein's trophy case. The guy is from another era,
when a good skier would compete in all three skiing disciplines; alpine, jumping & xc skiing:

Stein's Olympic & World Championship medals, very cool:

What would a modern ski resort be without enormous houses:

There is some interesting yard art among the ski mansions. The raccoon house:

The bear house:

I think the elk is pretty cool:

So is the 100'+ totem pole:

Detail of the indian at the bottom of the totem pole:

They have what may be the nicest ski patrol headquarters in Utah:

The crew hard at work, on the big leather furniture, watching the big screen HDTV:

Last run on sweep with Jordanelle Reservoir in the background:

Sunday met up with Oldfart & Savanna at Brighton.
We got a single ride on Millicent (thanks), skied out the backdoor & skinned up:

The day began clear:

Then it began to dump:

Oldfart showing us the way into Thousand Turn Gully:

Followed by Sara:

& Savanna:

Oldfart & Sara smiling in the storm:

Oldfart looking good in the powder:

We had time for another before I had to get to work.
Savanna dropping into Figure Eight Hill, she is good:

Followed by Sara:

This was Sara's first time skinning for turns in the backcountry & it went great.
She said it was beautiful & now understands why I like it so much.
Thanks to Oldfart & Savanna for the good routefinding & good company.
Let's please do that again.

Monday Sara had no school & got to ski with her Mom at Solitude on alpine gear.
She told me she was proud to point out to her Mom where we'd skied the bc the day before.
Sara was also proud to say she's outskiing her Mom.
You go girl.

Thanks for the kind words.

It was awesome at Brighton Oldfart. Thanks so much.

The goofy yard art is off the Last Chance run, skier's L of Success on the lower mountain.

"Take your daughter to play" day. Laughing Good to see you all got together. Seemed like a natural when oldfart chimed in with a daughter report, too. Glad to see it happened.
