After 6 years in Colorado I'm now a Minnesota telemark skier sans ski partner. 45 days based in Glenwood Springs last year... It'll be something less than that this year.
Maybe someone knows of some bc off the back side of Afton Alps, Welch Village or Buck Hill?! But I digress...
Ever walk into a ski shop to ask "where's the tele gear?" and get the look like it came out in German? Welcome to Minneapolis!
Anyway, I'm looking for someone to hit the local "slopes". OR "slants" as it were. I can't go terribly often this year but it would be nice to share a chair. Alpine and snowboarders are welcome.
My Jaks won't work here so the new Dirans show up next week. New toys!

Don't fret! Do a search for "minnesota" and you will find homies. I am up in St. Cloud and made first turns of the year on Wednesday at Powder Ridge. I feel your pain of change. My last job was in Utah for the last couple of years. My only advantage here is the fact I grew up skiing capped landfills in Detroit on ice.
Keep posting! Lutsen & Spirit Mtn is just a couple hours north. Bohemia is a day away in northern Michigan and airfare to Denver is going for $140 from MSP. All is not lost, it just requires a little more work.
Drop me a line if you want me to send you my trips I am planning for the winter.
Be Well,
Ivan

Heh. I grew up here racing at Wild, Buck, Afton Alps and Spirit. Some of them have added runs, but mostly they're the same.
I drove by Afton a few weeks back and had to laugh at the vertical.
It sounds like the local REI has some pinheads so they might be a good place to hook up for a car pool.
I'll drop you a note once the new skis arrive and make a drive up for a weekend at Giant's.

Do you know about the Telefest at Porcupine Mountain? http://www.downwindsports.com/index.php?page=tele_fest
I live in Southern Wisconsin and have been telemarking for about 5 years now. Seems like there are more pinheads out on the hills every year. I'm sure it's the same in MN. You'll find plenty of people to ski with.

| This is my first year with the tele gear, but it's going pretty good. I get to Welch quite a bit. If you want to head down there let me know. |
