Good ski'n White Pine today.
Northwest breeze above about 10 k slowed the softening so the uppers were kinda firm.
They were streaming outta Soboard onto Red Top.
The other two were vacant.
It was a litle warmer and snow below about 8k was mank at 3:30 pm.
One more day? |

Same think around 8-9K. Skied Deer Valley and the little knob to the south of Bald Peak. Noticed two cornices that had dropped encouraging some natural wet activity - one near the back of Claytons and one behind Deer Valley.
Pretty firm at 9:30 when I headed to work but what an amazing sunrise.
Scoping a line on Timp tomorrow. If today's conditions persist it should be a good day for it. _________________ Me want powder |

| Did a Toledo bowl, Toledo Chute (butter at 10:00) then a flagstaff (perfect at 11:00). Proceeded down the canyon for a few pitches of granite, also perfect. Days like this always leave a smile on my face. |

Alta perimeter today:
Zoomed Telemark:
Then the camera batteries died. Too bad given what followed.
The place was a mess of illegal snowmobile highmarks.
Two snowmobiliers came by as we prepared to skin up.
They claimed they didn't know it was non-motorized,
then one highmarked the steep slope directly behind us.
Telemark called the SL County Sheriff on his cell phone.
I just spoke w/the dispatcher,
who said the Brighton Ski Patrol responded &
made contact but she didn't have further info tonight.
The high W facing was good white velvet past 3pm. _________________

a lil'
about going here
because this
needs to get
some more to smooth it out.
The main line is cemented in place, if a bit runneled from sliding every other storm this spring. Up high on the slabs the snow has numerous glide cracks and is a bit punchy in spots, occasionally all the way to the rock base. Best to time your descent for 12:30-2 as the main line sits in the shade till noon and goes back to shaded ~2. Today's rain + the recent warm temps should have it smoothed out by the middle of next week. _________________ US Distributor for Ski Trab |

Heh.. I was up on Millicent to ski Elevator Shaft and called dispatch as well. I had a perfect view of the sledders and told them I could easily guide them in. The deputy called me back and told me that it was a forest service issue and there's really no way for them to get up there in time to catch them. It would have taken Wasatch County involvement since it looked like they came over Snake Creek Pass. The deputy said it's been happeneing every weekend and that basically, best I could do is get a number off the sled, other than that, they had free reign. I'll check with patrol, but I didn't see any up there and from my impression, to the Sheriff it was an unenforceable issue due to access. I certainly didn't see any activity in the parking lot when we exitted. Keep us posted if you hear more and I'll do the same. |

To add to WOW's ealier post from Sat., our route took us to the top of Mt. Raymond where we were a bit late, but still managed to ski the east face from the top. We skied it at 10:00am or so, but should have been at least a half an hour earlier. The snow was good after descending the upper section. We then proceeded to the top of Gobbler's to ski the Southwest chute. We hit it about right. After climbing back to the top again, we had a great run down the Nothwest face back to the bottom of Porter Fork. Perhaps more harvesting this weekend.
En route to Raymond

This one's rutted,

Wow what a kickass thread lots of stoke and just a few threadcunting A holes (MGK)
I wish I had posted more observations.
Here are a few of my fav pics
early season instabilities

The Mrs.
So I managed to loose a few things a pair of mountain hardware torsion gloves on an aborted early morning DP w/ the Commander on Argenta.
The wife went for a small ride skiers left of figuire 8 bowl in Twinlakes and lost a 173 yellow cmh expolder w/ a nx01
If anybody finds these items a pm would be great. Most of my touring partners have started summer jobs or lost the love so anyone looking to still get out pm me.
