So the other day on the lifts the conditions were icy and it was just lap after lap. Kinda boring, but hey! I was out skiing. Sometime after lunch the early season legs start burning from droppin' the ol' knee all day and I started doing some P-turns to rest my legs. It felt good and I started to do more P-turns with each run, untill I realized I was doing nothing BUT P-turns each run. Should I feel guilty about this or work on my P-turn to add another skill to my skiing?

By the way, I've NEVER skied on locked heels EVER! Just to clarify.

This is TERRIBLE advice. It was my mantra for many years and got me royally screwed over and over again.

You are on the path of righteousness, the path of enlightenment. Drink whisky to ease any residual guilt and trust the force.

I too P-turn when I'm tired or in a tricky situation. No guilt but some pain.

I found that it hurt my knees if I tried to P-turn in heavier snow -- too much trying to wrench the boards around. You'd have to really let the skis carve the turns, but that's tricky without being able to flex forward on the boot.

Look at it (p-turns on telegear) as complete technical mastery of your equipment.

You have increased your options and fun factor!

P-Turns are great for firm conditions -- no guilt required.

Also a good opportunity to work on T-turns with only a minimal amount of dropping the knee -- another good way to save energy!

As long as you know the difference between the righteous path and the selfrighteous path, you get there just fine.

If youve never skied with "fixed heels", you should go try it!
Rent some stuff!
After that, you will appreciate tele-ing even more! Wink

That is what makes this sport so great...the options. If para turns hold better on bulletproof ...para.

Perhaps I can be the first to say this on the new ttips,

It's a DANCE not a Stance.

P-turns add a nice little touch and flair to a day of tele-dance turns. Toss 'em in whenever the spirit or conditions move you to do so, and don't ever think another thing about it. Very Happy
