what did you do with the factory "riser" binding mount, just take it off or build on top of it.

these skis are very cheap in town right now, 299 CAN in the wrapper, couple of years old, I think I want them.

I was able to get the skis w/ the "volant" mounting plate...sort of a universal plate.

I drilled into the lifter and mounted w/ a homemade double mount shim (cutting board style)

The new skis have an Atomic only plate, so mounting to ski is the way...As the beta "humps" go length of ski, precise measuring and drilling are a must!

A couple of questions:

I have heard that these are good all-around skis, not limited to short-radius turns, do you find that is true? Can you open them up and cruise as well?

Also, how does the SL9 compare to the 9.12?

Thanks, I am ready to move from tele-specific skis and get back to the energetic, aggressive, fun skis I skied on in my alpine days.

Yes.

I've always felt a shorter radius ski can be opened up where the reverse is harder. My old Atomic 10.22 GS Race Stocks straing at me from the corner will attest to that...

I skied the 9.12 previous to the new sleds. These are more lively, but that could be due to the fact that the 9.12's were a bit played out. I REALLY noticed the difference on these in parallels. I literally could almots drag a hip in slalom radius carves...sick.

They are tons of fun and my go-to ski for Northeast Lift Serve (Kmart, Whiteface, etc.)
