Why would I ruin a child's technique progression by introducing them to such an unnatural movement....? Wink

I see it the same as teaching a little leaguer to throw curveballs. One minute they are an all star for fooling other kids with something new, but then all of a sudden the kid gets shelled when the batters learn to be patient and wait for the break. His fastball is dust because that's just a decoy pitch for him now, and he is soon stationed to the lonely plains of Right Field. Such devestation to the poor child's psyche!

Great TR!

And as far as the kids on Tele, if they want to let em, ask em about it.

I took a moguls tele clinic this year, with me, one lame dude, and 4 awesome Tele kids. They didn't seem to be having any issues, and one of em was only on his second Tele day.

They ripped. Aged 7-11 I'd say.

-Cheers,
Sarah.

Ha, that was great. Don't you just love seeing the little ankle-grabbers get after it? They're having the best time.

Say, would you adopt me?

Nice Very Happy

Good demonstration of why I say the worst part of being single is not having kids! Sad

Borrow them. From friends or family. Seriously. Parents are overcommitted, by definition.

Every kid should have an irrespons- ... er, an adventurous godfather or uncle to get them out into the outdoors & show them a different view of life now and then.

Best of all - when you get tired of them, you just return them to the owners. Very Happy

Nice TR. I used this thread to show my wife why kids are such a good idea.

cool TR - spectacular day.
would be fun to hear the kids respond re: joesnow's snowboard/ ski /tele baseball metaphor. Fora awhile there they don't even notice the diffences - it's all just sliding on snow! But I hear yea. Perhaps AT as the standard so they can get around, then let the little buggers choose.... did you see the home vid of that 12 year old in the Park section, practising rails at home in Maine? It's was epic! Cool

Dobish - dude you need to find a GF and do some lawering first, yes Very Happy Laughing !? Dr. Witherspoon has an excellent devient concept, yet it doesn't seem to work that way does it? Capt'n Irrespons over here thinks that's a great idea -I'm good friends with hellion 3 year old, and his two older brothers.. 2 on alpine and the oldest 10 - using moms's tele gear......oh it's a madhouse!!! Very Happy Very Happy Laughing

Now that's what I'm talking about! (Thanks bierklick)

After perusing the internet for several minutes, I can not seem to find a source to buy them from. Not available in the U.S. possibly? I'm going to send an e-mail to Silvretta.

PostPosted: Fri Jan 16, 2009 12:26 am    Post subject: how to get kids up the hill Reply with quote

I know this was an old thread, but I just found it. We wanted to get our 6 year-old grandson up the hill last year. He was way too small for the smallest tele gear and the only randonee bindings we could find had DIN settings much too high for a kid barely breaking 50 lbs. But he doesn't mind walking in his downhill boots at all. So I bought kids snowshoes, fairly good ones so they have crampons. We carried his skis up in our pack and used our skins on our skis. It worked fine except for the steepest, rockiest terrain. We had a great day even though we never found the ski trail and we all had to ski down a hiking trail! For those of you in the east, this was at Cardigan, so you know that the hiking trails are really narrow hiking trails! This year we have teledactyls ready for him (2 sizes too big, but he doesn't care), just have to figure out which skis to get and we're off!
