Mono County forecast from the NOAA today:
| Quote: | Wednesday Night...Windy. Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Snow level lowering to 7500 feet. Lows 37 to 47. Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph becoming west 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph after midnight. Ridge gusts up to 60 mph in the evening.
Thursday...Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Snow level 7000 feet. Highs 57 to 67. North winds 10 to 15 mph shifting to the southeast in the afternoon. |
From the Dweeb:
| Quote: | IT IS THE DWEEBS BELIEF THAT THE PERIOD 12:00AM FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY AM HOLDS THE BEST PROMISE FOR SNOWFALL HERE IN THE MAMMOTH AREA AS THE OVER WATER TRAJECTORY OF THE LAST PIECE OF JET ENERGY LIFTS INTO CALIFORNIA FRIDAY. PS THERE COULD BE A LITTLE UPSLOPE SATURDAY AM AS WELL.
IT DOES APPEAR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH WILL HAVE SOME ACCUMULATION...WITH THICKNESSES IN THE MID TO UPPER 540S AND "FREEZING LEVELS" DROPPING TO 8000, IT CERTAINLY WILL BE COLD ENOUGH. HIGHS IN THE 40S THURSDAY AND FRIDAY!
THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH MAY PICK UP 1 TO 3 INCHES NEAR THE VILLAGE AND MORE OVER THE UPPER ELEVATIONS BY WEEKS END IF THE SECONDARY JET HAS ENOUGH OVER WATER TRAJECTORY.

I know it isn't for good, but I'm ready for some GAME ON!!!

I waxed my skis and de-burred the edges this weekend. I take full credit for this forecast. |

Was up on Mammoth mtn today, had to get in a few more downhill runs on the mtn bike. Not a cloud in the skiy around 45 degrees and a bit windy-then again it is always windy in top!!!!
The night are rather chilly now and the Aspens are beggining to change color high up on the mtns above Lake Crowley. I can't wait for the snow but meantime getting in some fun climbs
The mtn crews are busy getting our mtn ready!!! Hat's off to the lift guys on Mammoth, they're working fast and furious to get it all in shape for winter. |

swimetogginbout.
been yearning since June.
Be particularly sweet to settle the dust a little for HSBgrass. The mass migration from Jeff Tweedy to John Prine to Bill Kirchen to Bela Fleck to Jorma to E Lou to.....could be hard on the lungs. After that I'll devote all my time to polishing edges while I watch the sky.

I was wondering if this thread would start in light of the forecast. I had to post on page 1. I'm thinking about heading up to Tuolumne too and maybe doing the walk-up on Dana this weekend just for kicks because I think there might be snow on the ground. Sort of a "get in the fall spirit with the crisp air and whatnot" trip. And a "get the hell out of SF trip." *But nah... there won't be any snow. It'll be 90 at the summit of Dana on Saturday.* _________________
