Seems to me that the board could use some more trip reports so I thought I'd contribute one.

Nine of us flew into Mt Carlyle Lodge near Kaslo BC on Janaury 14th for a week of skiing. We were the first group of the season so we had a fresh canvas to play on. Super deep snowpack, decent weather and stable avalanche conditions meant we could explore many new places. A number of wind storms had left the alpine scoured but all that snow needs to be deposited somewhere...

This was our second trip to Carlyle and I'd highly recommend it. The lodge is very comfortable with a great sauna. The terrain is typical Southern Selkirks with runs up to 2000 feet long. A nice variety of alpine and treed terrain facing every aspect. We've been self-guided both times - Jeff (the owner) is very accomadating to self guided groups. We'll definetely be back.

That hut sure looks more swanky than the old Flint Lakes hut. Nice pics!

Yeah much nicer than the old Flint cabin. I never stayed there but we skied by it this trip to check it out. Jeff has done a nice job with the new cabin - big improvements over even three or four years ago as every year he adds something.

Serendipity! I'll be there this Sunday to next, and in Nelson on either end. Thanks for the TR.

what LeeL said. I now understand and appreciate the term "ski porn"-- that photo makes you FEEL it the way only well done pornography can. I think I need therapy. Or a cold shower.

Thanks for the stoke, we were there last year and it was so good we're going back again this year in the first week of March. The pictures brought back some good memories of some of the runs we skied.
