So, this little ttipster has an interview coming up for a job in Kelowna. It's a big move from the good times in Montreal, but, ummm, i hear that there might be some good skiing in that area...

Is there anyone out there from Kelowna / Okanagan? Where do you ski? How far do you drive to ski? What is the city of Kelowna like? fun? conservative? dull? pleasant? I suppose it's not much excitement compared to Montreal, but the skiing might make up for it?

Also, what is the market like for high-tech type jobs? Mr. bluuu might want to find a programming job after he gets bored of being a ski bum.

Any beta appreciated,
-bluuu

I lived there for 5 years,GREAT skiing is 45 min away at bigwhite or about 70 min away at silver star or 2 hrs at apex alpine , or crystal mtn just out of town for night skiing .

The snow in the okanagan is light and dry .Revelstoke is 2.5 hrs north or golden is 5 hrs north if you want to tour

kelowna has really good dry weather, it was a sleepy little town on a lake ,its kinda grown big time and become one big strip mall, but its pretty laid back still.

Hmmmm? I'm not sure it's possible to get bored of being a ski bum. It will be even harder to get bored of it living in Kelowna cuz there are so many great choices close to home. Not sure of bc day trip options but definitely loads of stuff close enough for weekend trips.

Also, if Mr. bluuu likes to rock climb there is world class Skaha just down the road at Penticton.

Thanks for the comments,

the whole "3 hours from roger's pass" thing is pretty appealing, i have to admit.
