I think most/all of the remaining prisoners have been charged, finally.
Not sure if all of them have been charged.
Some (not charged, won't be charged) are/were dealing with repatriation issues, thus can/could not leave.

I understand there are still 169 inmates that still are not fully allowed their habeus rights. The argument to continue to deny them is that the inmates are so dangerous as to not deserve them. If they are so obviously dangerous, prosecution should be a piece of cake. Delays are not the friend of prosecution. What's the hold up? Try them and close Gitmo. Justice delayed is justice denied and all that.
edit: It appears almost 90 of the detainees were approved for release years ago, but still remain

You must be shitting me....the MOST disappointing ?? Shit, I think it's the only bright spot.
As far as I know, the detainees are being dealt with.
Wasn't it just a few years ago, most of you guys were claiming all the folks held down there were merely innocent victims swept off the streets?
If I can give Obama credit for anything, it's listening to his advisors and keeping this facility open. |
This, BTW, is just the latest example of how SL responds in kind to a serious post from someone who didn't flame him. Invective and strawmen. But hey-- we're all just making him do it. |
