I'd like to hear your reasons for wanting the prison complex closed Sugarloafer.
Do you judge it to be immoral ? Illegal ? Innefective ? Do you think it brings resentment towards America and motivates resistance movements ?
Maybe you believe the bay was obtained via extortion and rightfully belongs to Cuba. |

Nah.....Every once in a while, I just like to remind the peanut gallery in here that closing Gitmo was one of the first things Obama was going to do. _________________ "Take it from a member of the male species, walking around in public with an erection is somewhat of an embarrassment unless you are a bit..... off"........Bunion |

I only asked that the US follow the GenevaConventions.

So this isn't about Obama but simply a jab at his supporters. You're just pointing out the glaring disconnect between the current acquiescence of many posters of this forum and their past criticism towards a national policy of extrajudicial detention and torture. What was once the subject of much outrage and national shame has curiously vanished from the radar.
But if there is one policy with which you agree, then this it, right ? On a survey question "how do you rate the current administration's dealings with Guantanamo Base ?" you would definitely answer favourably.
You know Loaf, once you get passed the moral confusion, you may find that you agree with most of Obama's policies. Just saying... |

There's no moral confusion. Once you get past the notion that Obama's actions do not reflect his preferred policies, you'll realize what a liar you elected. _________________ "Take it from a member of the male species, walking around in public with an erection is somewhat of an embarrassment unless you are a bit..... off"........Bunion |

And he changed his mind, exactly what a good liberal should do.

This is why I'll probably vote for Romney. They (Congress) already have the power, so if they have a rubber stamp, they will at least have some accountability, which right now they don't have because they just blame Obama, while raging against anyone that blames Bush. Then for four years, we can laugh about how they say they inherited it all from Obama. _________________ Evar leevin', evar feerfol, evar shore. |

And how Obama screwed it up so bad it will never recover, much the same as Bush did.

I agree that Obama's actually done very little that SL doesn't seem to support-- the issue seems to be appearances-- but "moral confusion?" SL's a dick. There's nothing confusing about that. |

This is probably the most disappointing aspect of the Obama administration to date, for me. Gitmo should be closed and the detainees either dealt with in a legal manner or released. The victims of 9/11 and their families deserve trials of those accused so they can once and for all, put their loved ones to rest. There is no doubt that there are some seriously bad guys detained at Gitmo. Let's get justice and move on. _________________ Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for.

You must be shitting me....the MOST disappointing ?? Shit, I think it's the only bright spot.
As far as I know, the detainees are being dealt with.
Wasn't it just a few years ago, most of you guys were claiming all the folks held down there were merely innocent victims swept off the streets?
If I can give Obama credit for anything, it's listening to his advisors and keeping this facility open. _________________ "Take it from a member of the male species, walking around in public with an erection is somewhat of an embarrassment unless you are a bit..... off"........Bunion |
