I read on their website snowpack at Lake Helen is 82% of normal. Shasta is 100%. Not too shabby.

Looks like the road to the Devastated Area is open for an assault on the north side. Things usually melt out pretty quickly down low after that.

Still only winter closure on south side, which makes it a haul to the summit, but doable.

This is a handy link to keep.

'Skied it from the Devastated Area Saturday. 1' to 2' at the parking lot. 'Very smooth from the tiny trees up. From 8000 up it was windpacked winter snow in the low spots/gullies and firm/scoured on the ridges/vertical high spots. 'Should be pretty good corn pretty quick.

Go get it! no runnels yet!!

It appears that the road has been opened to Bumpass Hell. This will get you to 8000 feet, which makesfor an easy day to the summit and other fun cruising opportunities.

CU next weekend! Razz

(if I can get out of dog sitting responsibilities) Confused

I'm planning on being up there. Skiing, biking, camping & snow fun with 4-year-old. I imagine the road will be open to the Helen parking lot a mile or so past Bumpass, and a good chance it'll be plowed all the way through for my Sunday AM ride.

I was not too far away yesterday for eclipse watching, and could see that the west side of the hill still has some white stripes.

So despite a new foot of glop on top to extend the coverage, there are NO DOGS allowed out of parking areas at Lassen Volcanic National Park. Confused

It looks like Rowdy is going to have to find a doggie job to pay the $75 ticket. He reports that skiing Vulcan's Gate was worth it. Wink

(Further proof that all dogs are criminals) Twisted Evil
