PostPosted: Mon May 07, 2012 2:30 pm    Post subject: Beer Ski, Drinking Beer on a Ski Reply with quote

I have a little project I am working on over the summer. I am going to take a pair of used K2 PBR skis and set one up as a shot ski, with hardware from https://www.facebook.com/shotz.ski. The other will be a beer ski with 16oz maybe 12oz glasses mounted on it.
I made a beer ski after college by epoxying pint glasses onto the surface of a ski. The problems were it was hard to clean, and the epoxy eventually failed.
I am hoping I can tap the masses for ideas on other means of attaching a beer glass to a ski in a way that it can be released and cleaned.
Eventually I would like to have these auctioned or sold with proceeds going to the Search and Rescue and Ski Patrol I am part of. But before I get there I would like to actually build these.
Thank you for the help.

I have heard of the shotski but never a beer ski

for a shot ski I would drill holes in the ski that are a good size for the standard shot glass you find in any bar, you want them to friction fit in the hole so they will just pop out for washing, an old wooden ski with no metal in it would be easy to drill thru with a hole saw

same with a beer ski but I asume the ski would have to be very wide ...I don't know what the standard beer glass is down there

Maybe if the ski is wide enough, you could drill large holes right through the ski so the beer glasses sit about 2/3 down in there.

It appears that Jagermeister is involved here,
and that being the case, consider just mounting
the skis on a wall and drinking from any old ski
boots that pop in the skis..
Or, again, considering the clientele,
nothing wrong with the dynamic duo
of shoe goo and duct tape.
Very Happy

A bong ski pole works better on the chair.

I love the way they mount the shot glasses; you can surely do something similar with some beer boots? Maybe use some old Superloops?

I like the ideas. The velcro; apparently there is some high test stuff out there that works really well. And I have considered it especially for a ski that you could ski and set up on slope beer-ski-chug sessions on the slopes.

I like the boot glass, but I have never found a reasonable beer drinking glass that fits the bill. And if it is too big no one will ever want to drink out of it, too small it becomes too lame, thus 16oz +/- 4 oz. Then it needs to be able to attach to a binding. I like the binding idea.

Where my head is going right now would involve a pilsner type glass with the flared base. An old school toe piece and a cable with the cam out front, similar looking to Shotz Skis. I am just as die hard a freeheeler and anyone else here but i am afraid with the bigger glasses a fixed heel may be needed. I am thinking of a bear trap Dovre type binding.
