I'm fortune enough to have a cheap source for ONE pair of skis. Have to order by Tuesday.

I can get: either Atomic, Rossi, K2 or Salomon. My favorite so far is the TeleDaddy(183), but the TMX(184 or 191) sounds nice too. Usually I prefer skis with a wood core but the Atomics so far are the most attractive to me out of the four makers. Since the forum was down over the weekend I spend too much thinking about this and every other hour some thoughts about maybe going with a K2 Work Stinx or maybe a Rossi T4 or even some Salomon Scream's drove me crazy.

What are your thoughts Question

Id go either the K2 or Atomic. I have Piste Stinx and TM22s. Both great although I used to swear by the K2s and the Atomics are making me forget that other pair, which my bro-in-law is mighty happy about.

Please say something first about your skiing preferences, and the types of snow where and when you typically ski.

you seem to be looking at a couple of different styles of skis. I would avoid the T4 unless you are doing strictly BIG mountain stuff. The Teledaddy's handle well in just about anything as do the TMX. The TMX is going to be more versitile than the teledaddy. The work stinx is a nice ski also. If you are looking for something a little bit lighter and more of an all around ski, i would go with either the work stinx or the TMX (184) If you are looking for something to bust through crud, pow and has a super-stable base, go with the teledaddy. I think i'm putting in the order for mine after i finish typing this post!

Just because you don't have internet on the weekends doesn't mean the forum is down.

The site server was rooted through a php buffer exploit a couple of months before. Mitch asked for help to analyze what was happening. I started looking into it over Thanksgiving weekend. On Thursday afternoon Dec 2, 2004, I discovered the root kit and the intruder online. Before I could terminate his session he got me (I was connected on a very slow link) and the dirtball subsequently destroyed the forum database and littered profane garbage all-over the website. I had the server shutdown and I asked the hosting service to add a new drive and install a more up-to-date distribution but leave the home file system and OS filesytem of the old drive so I could mount it read-only and inspect it. Also had them connect the host to a com port server so I could access it without it being on the net. Spent most of Thursday night doing forensics, running patches cleaning up the home filesystem and tried to handstitch the database back together. It was quickly evident recovery wasn't possible in our lifetimes. Unmounted the old rooted drive to save it for more forensic inspection later. Mitch and I are both on the West coast and the hosting service is in the middle of the country thousands of miles a way so we had a slight challenge doing everything remotely. We ordered a new box from the hosting service splitting the forum server to it while the old rebuilt host became just the main ttips server. Began transferring files from the old image. Mitch started uploading backed-up content while I was building a new forum server with updated phpBB software and security patches on a home system I would subsequently clone and upload to the new forum server. Made DNS requests on Friday with a shortened TTL to point to the new box so by Monday it would be seen by the rest of the world. By Sunday morning the new site was running but locked down. Mitch and I tested it most of the day Sunday and it was actually ready early Sunday evening. It took 3-days to recover--no miracles just a tedious deliberate process that had to be followed. We had no backup to the forum database at that time plus we brought on a new host and it takes time to expire DNS cache world-wide. The site could have been operation Saturday afternoon if we didn't have to deal with that.
