Mother Nature has pulled out her own bag of jokes on the spring skiers. Nothing spring-like at all around here. Leading to an April fools day ski at Whistler/Blackcomb with friends while the kids were in ski school.
5 minutes of fun, and even 3 different telemarker's... all here:

Damn. Winter. We used to have winter....
once again, thanks for the stoke.
btw, since you id the skiers, is it too much to ask to id their gear? ....I mean, that is if you have the time, nothing else to do, are bored....just curious to know what people are on while watching them ski those conditons |

Wow... i thought this vid would set a record for fastest drop to Page 2 obscurity. I know I'm no videographer, but I thought, 190 views and not a comment? Must be really bad music!

interesting request, but I'll play! Mostly the vid is viewed by friends and family, so they don't normally ask!
Me:
Boots - 2009 T1 four buckle red & black
This Vid - Bluehouse Shoots 191cm mounted +3 from boot centre QK'd for HH's Position 4 and standard springs
Crud and chop days and pow touring - Ski Logik Rock Star 188cm dead on boot centre QK'd for AXLs Position 2 and standard springs
Hard pack, variable, old snow, and standard touring/long tours - 11/12 Liberty Helix w/ early tip rise 187cm mounted dead on boot centre with AXLs Position 2 and standard springs - the best one-ski tool ever. This is my second pair. If you could only have one ski for everything, this would be it.
Cecil:
Boots - 2008 Garmont Ener-G
This Vid - Rossi S7 188cm mounted -2cm with AXLs Position 2 and standard springs
Almost Never - G3 Saint w/ Switchbacks mounted per G3 for tele - probably the worst ski in the world for anyone skiing over 10kph
Brice:
Boots - 2011 BD Push with Booster Straps and Intuition Liners
This Vid - Bluehouse Maestro 178cm mounted -2cm QK's for AXLs Position 2 and standard springs - this is his 70% ski
Big Pow Days in-bounds - Fat-y-pus I-Rock 186cm mounted -1cm with AXLs Position 2 and standard springs - this ski is soooooooooo much fun and surprisingly versatile if you're a strong skier. I want to steal them.
Hard pack days and bumps - G3 Rapid Transit 178cm mounted as per G3 tele mount point QK'd for AXLs Position 2 and standard springs - likely selling this ski, as he moves past strong intermediate and over-skis this ski
Layla - alpine:
Boots - 2010 Atomix Hawx 100
This Vid - Moment Pika 160cm mounted with Marker Barons
All mountain/mixed days - 2013 Moment Sierra (first one's on the slopes!!) mounted with Marker F-12's
Chuck - alpine:
Boots - 2011 Lange Team 130
This Vid and all the time - Bluehouse Maestro 178cm mounted with Marker Barons
Chuck may have a set of Bluehouse Maven's on the way soon that will get the Baron's and the Maestro's will get Dynafiddles.
There... that was sort of interesting to think about. I know all the mount positions, as Brice and I do most of the mounts for friends. _________________ "It's a strange world made up of extreme horizontal and vertical planes. Where you find diagonal, you find skiing."

| I have trouble viewing vids on Vimeo sometimes, especially away from my fast connection at home, I wonder if others do as well and if this contributes to your cool vids not getting the attention they deserve? Have you ever thought about asking Mitch to host them on TeleVision? |

The honest reality is that when we build the video's, I usually set the video speed at 103%, as it actually smooths out handshake resulting from our low-end video camera better than the iMovie 'stabilisation' feature. So we are about 3% faster on video than real life!
Mrs. WH (Layla) is at 108%, as she has a small 'hitch' in her transition that is more apparent at 100% speed! So she's happier at 108%! I tell her the math is simple, she simply needs to ski only 8% faster and the problem will be solved!!
It's working, as her speed has increased over the season and she is making more "S"'s and less "C"'s - meaning more fallline aggression. As a recovering snowboarder, her tendency is to want to turn her body sideways to the slope too much.... but we're breaking that horse!
So... there is a bit of cheating video-edit magic in there. Don't hate me....
And yes, some browsers and connections have trouble with Vimeo. I just can't stomach much youtube time. Posting on television might be an idea, but it's a process to get large files to Mitch, which is why most television is just his stuff. Not that it sucks.... it's all stoke. _________________ "It's a strange world made up of extreme horizontal and vertical planes. Where you find diagonal, you find skiing."

Nice vid...
What editing program do you use, when you upload to Vimeo? I am trying to upload my videos to Vimeo in Hi-Def..
I got some pow-pow in Fernie on April 2nd, 6-8 inches fresh; first tracks on Skydive, and Stag Leap, but my Go-Pro died, and no one would stop to shoot video...
So you just have to take my word for it.. |

I just use the basic iMovie that came pre-loaded. Seems to work well enough to get stuff uploaded and edited pretty quickly, as I'll never do it if I don't just do it right away. Then they just stack up and never get done.
I'm sure one could do much better and more thoughtful edits with iMovie, but with 2 kids and a job and skiing and biking and soccer coaching, I just try to get 'er done and it's more than enough tool to allow that.
When done, I just export to 720p HD for most. If they get to be over 8 minutesn you have to downstep to "large format" insteafd of 720HD to keep it under 500mb, which is the weekly upload limit for the free Vimeo account. I honestly, at the Vimeo playback level, don't see much difference between the two formats.
Good luck... Would love to see more skiing vids and less POV. _________________ "It's a strange world made up of extreme horizontal and vertical planes. Where you find diagonal, you find skiing."
