"Obamacare" is the same as "BobDoleCare". The individual mandate was the one thing left that would save the insurance industry. "Progressives" aren't particularly attached to this notion. Newt Gingrich was for the individual mandate before he was agin it, and Mitt thought that MassCare was a model for then nation. Until he had to run for the GOP nomination.
Strike down the individual mandate, and were closer to a single payer system.

Whatever you say, Lil' Johnny. Harking back to positions taken by the GOP 15-20 years ago won't help you now. And States may be free to do, constitutionally, what the Fed can not. |

I disagree. Getting the current HCR which relies on private insurers through the democrat controlled govt was not an easy task, some would say nearly impossible. Getting something more controversial through an increasingly conservative government seems impossible in the foreseeable future.

Mandates may be hard to come by with a population which seems intent on being at odds with itself.
