Apparently they have this large group of kids coming from the UK; they arrive in a week or so each year. With limited snow on some runs, I guess they are firing up the guns for some spot repairs. They need snow at the bottom of some runs so you can ski back to a lift.
Good for us as they will run the lifts midweek, (including the Flyer) while the Brits are here. |

See the BSP Trails Blog for more info. I was on Abol Slide two weeks ago and there was ~18 inches of snow and apparently just about all of it is gone now.
They've offered refunds for Chimney Pond-bound climbers and skiers. Be sure to call the Park if you were planning on heading there.
Runaway winter - bad. Bike season - good. |
this is not correct as far as i have found thus far. my fiancee an i were supposed to ski in on tuesday, and we contacted the director/ headquarters. they initally said no to any sort of transfer, refund, anything... we were not lookiing for a refund, and in the past i have been able to use some of the credit/transfer reso's.
we then banged on the door harder, and spoke with the director himself, who seems real cool. sounded frazzled etc. said to email him the requset and he would see what he could do. they said he would definetely get back to us on friday, that did not happen.
i'll call again monday. if you have any other info please do share. no big either way. i am sure they'll do something for us. we'll just head back next year. |

Totally forgot about that. Good point.
Slightly OT, but not necessarily, there's more snow out there than one might think. Did Hunger via Pinnacle yesterday as I did on Oct 30 (first time snow started sticking earlier this season). Saw lots of icicles, and alternated between very dry leaf litter (very little mud surprisingly) on the trail and knee to thigh deep postholing (50/50). Snowshoes would have been nice, but every ten min or so, the snow would disappear on the hike...
More pix here.

I was the beneficiary of a friend's vouchers for Stowe that needed to be utilized. So we gathered the kid posse and did a cannonball run on sat to Stowe. Pounded the bumps on Nosedive, Liftline, Hayride, Centerline, and the Gulch. I was the only one on teles and left it all on the mountain! The coverage was really good in the bumps there. Much better than I could have hoped after the warm up. The last time I skied there was 25 years ago... |

Kayaked on Lake George on Friday in a tee shirt
My neighbor mowed his lawn yesterday
Now it may snow a bit this week
