I had planned to make today a rest day, but at 8:30am, with the sun out, the phone started ringing for another tour.
Did a great skin up in a familiar area (for me), and two runs down. Some of the nicest natural glades, on the down, for long runs.
Here are some pictures. These images were captured from the Hi-Def camcorder, with this video shot by Louis. On the descent, I skied under a hidden tree branch, so I fell back behind the group a bit. At least I was going slowly, when I fell, no injury.
Still have to edit the video, and burn it to Blu-Ray later.

Thanks!
I just stayed up late to trim a new set of skins.
We'll see if I get a rest day tomorrow. Expecting heavy snowfall, have something planned for Friday Cool

Nice air at the :40 sec mark.
Now I'm off for a little NELSAP before shovel duty.

At my house in the valley: 8" as of 6am. It sounds like Magic Mountain will be spinning their lifts today, so I'm there. If I have any energy left later (likely not), Berkshire East has $10 night skiing this evening. Now to plow the driveway so I can get out.

Viewing of the avy crown…http://adkbcski.com/2012/02/27/caution/

If you pay attention to the video labeled 2/26/12 at around 1:48 you'll see what looks like the same crown in the upper left corner as they ski the adjacent slide. I'd have just gotten my butt out of there as the other group did.

But, these guys have been getting the goods in an otherwise poor season.

The 2/26/2012 video and the crown video were taken by the same group on the same day FYI

I recogonized that, same cloths, packs, skiing styles, post ID,
When I wrote regarding getting out as the other group did, I was referring to the pair who triggered the avy on the 25th.

Used a Niteflux mtb'ing light because I wanted to take gaper pro footage. It's ridiculously bright. I bet it forced Veg to stay in the beam more because it fried his night vision. Normally I use a Mammut X-Zoom.

Nice footage! I've got Vectors arriving tomorrow. Is that what I'm seeing underfoot in your vid?

What's the word on new snowfall in the Crawford Notch/Bear Notch area?

Yup Steve, they allowed me to climb over a thousand feet in 2 miles without skins while exploring last night. Any waxless ski would have done that. Where they'll shine is on a fluffy descent. Maybe today! Smile

ETA: Well maybe not any waxless ski. It helped to have a giant swath of fishscales underfoot. It was full-on shwacking/climbing in open woods. Great timing on your Vector delivery. Get some!

Pinnah, extrapolating from what I see here for the Highland Center it looks like Crawford got next to nothing somehow. Loon is reporting a couple of inches which is a fair predictor for Bear Notch.

The most amazing data in that chart is Tuckerman with 5" and the summit with barely any! The Whites in general are looking at 8-12" though once this winds up tonight. Southern areas preferred.
