The fact that no one else caught this proves that no one reads other people posts but just want to post theirs.
Or that hankster and I have a weird sense of humor.
I caught it
Thought it was absolutely hilarious
Too hilarious, in fact, to degrade with any comment
Hankster's post needs no extra polish to shine _________________ If you are doing less than loving whatever you are giving your attention to, you are not who you were really born to be.

The posts about Infinite Jest remind me of this Onion article:

Girlfriend Stops Reading David Foster Wallace Breakup Letter At Page 20
BLOOMINGTON, IL—Claire Thompson, author David Foster Wallace's girlfriend of two years, stopped reading his 67-page breakup letter at page 20, she admitted Monday.
"It was pretty good, I guess, but I just couldn't get all the way through," said Thompson, 32, who was given the seven-chapter, heavily footnoted "Dear John" missive on Feb. 3. "I always meant to pick it up again, but then I got busy and, oh, I don't know. He's talented, but his letters can sometimes get a little self-indulgent."

Wait, wait, I have one that's more obscure/cool/sought after! Fup by Jim Dodge. Rather obscure, very cool, and it ought to be sought after. A fantastic read. _________________ 私はスキー好む

The complete title is Fup: a Duck. Not obscure at all, if you lived in Humboldt County in the early 80s.

I agree, he is, if nothing else, long-winded. But that is sometimes part of the art. He elaborates well. I also love Hemingway. I wear many hats and appreciate even more.

"A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson
I read the intro last night and really enjoyed it. Science is definitely a weakness for me and I'm hoping this will help make it more entertaining. Loved A Walk in the Woods and his biography on Shakespeare. Thanks.

Humboldt County=hardly obscure at all.
I lived there off and on in the 70s. _________________ 私はスキー好む

The Martha Stewart comment was noticed; just not LOL'd.
I have to mention this one, since travel/adventure books are gaining a foothold here:
Redmond O'Hanlon's "No Mercy: A Journey Into the Heart of the Congo" (1997), perhaps the funniest adventure book ever written. The scenes with the baby gorilla shitting all over him for weeks is just priceless.

"The Left Hand of Darkness" by Ursula LeGuin.
That or "Watership Down" by Richard Adams, because I like rabbits. _________________ "anecdotes are fine assbaggery is not"

Oh man, that is just so cool. Do you still have a Humbolt County t-shirt from the 70s? You know, like the ones with the faded looking material and dark collars? I think it would be so cool to have an authentic vintage Humbolt County t-shirt from the 70s. If I had one, I would wear it while riding my fixie to my favorite independent coffee roaster where I would read my favorite South American author. That would be so cool. _________________ Dave "Pinnah" Mann
