this is a good story about a recent accident in utah this past winter.

Thanks, APD. Wild story with a good ending. Seems like the stormy weather caused a lot of the author's acknowledged complacency.

whenever I hear the words 1,000 foot fall these days it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I fell 1,000 foot after losing my edges on a gouloutte (ice fall) in the Davin couloir in the Ecrins



12 months on and it still hurts but at least I can ski, and mountain bike. Sliding 300 meters on a 40 degree ice fall is a bit like getting into the ring with a boxer.

Another guy, the fiancee of a ski partner, fell a short distance in the same area in May after a small slab avalanche and is currently paralyzed. There but for the grace of some higher power go us all.
