Meadows was simply marvelous today. ZERO crowds. A little mushy at the bottom of HRM so I stayed out of Private Reserve--I was by myself so that would have been dumb anyway. Got colder as the day went on. 30 something when I got there this morning; in the low 20's when I left. No Heather Canyon but that's alright. Skied on the darkside today. I know that could get me excommunicated but riding a fairly fat alpine setup is allot of fun. Tomorrow should be very nice!

Wow, it's amazing how quickly this thread drops off. Meadows should be real good tomorrow. Anyone else heading up? Does anyone know the details of the Wy East slide? I'm wondering if it ran down into Heather at all.

From NWAC:

"...widespread natural avalanche cycle on Mt Hood as reported by pattrollers at Mt Hood Meadows early Thursday, including a very large and potentially very destructive slide that released above White River Canyon on Wy East."

I know I facebook'd you before I jumped in the car this morning. Happy B-day again. Very Happy I have to be at Mt. Baker Saturday am for a clinic. Still I might ski the morning at MHM and get on the road about noon.

Shocked Didn't hear anything about any large slides. But I didn't talk with any of the Patrol folks either. They had Heather open just a few days after the R4D4 that ran over a 2.5 miles well into Heather and Clark in Jan 2010. But there was a settled period after that one unlike the series of back-to-back storms we appear to be getting now.

Hey Gwen... too bad we missed on my visit to your neck of the woods. If you followed my thread, you'd see we got a taste of Oregon in the first round of the snow cycle.

on that note, I notice you're hittin' Baker on Saturday. PM our friend RET... he'll be there on Saturday and is a blast to ride with.

I'm gonna get up at 5:30 am and see how I feel. Likely I will go but only for a couple of hours. I'll text when I leave.

Wow, looks huge. Ran all the way down past the base of Heather chair. Looks like HC will be closed for a while. Bummer.

I'm heading up tomorrow am. Not expecting much, especially with Heather closed indefinitely, but it may be fun if it snows more tonight. Starting to think about spring sports...
